Cambodia-China relation is one of the oldest relations in Southeast Asia. Bilateral relations have a long history that can be traced back to the thirteenth century when a Chinese diplomat visited Angkor City in 1296Zhou Daguan, A Record of Cambodia: The Land and Its People (Chiang Mai: Silkworm Books, 2007).. After decades of up and down fluctuation during the Cold War, the contemporary ties between the two countries have reached a new height in various aspects, including in economic and political fields in recent years. China is now Cambodia’s top foreign investor, a major donor, and a very important trading partner, especially since China embarked its initiative on One Belt One Road in 2013. This paper aims at examining evolving of the Cambodia-China Economic relations over the past 20 years, especially under the influence of BRI.
